Kubota Corporation was started in 1890 as an iron foundry in Osaka, Japan, by Gonshiro Kubota. At first the company cast heavy equipment parts and water pipes. Engine production did not begin until 1922. By 2002, the company had produced more than 20 million engines. Kubota engines are now used as the base engine for such marinized brands as Nanni and Beta.
